MOORE
My second set of GrGr
Grand parents Samuel MOORE(also spelled MORE, MOOR) was settled in Whitby Twp by 1822
with a wife and one child. Again,
I have not been able to
find his
marriages, birth
or death.
Most information is second hand. Although I haven’t been able to get a copy of
his land application I have been told he applied in 1817 and stated he was from
Lower Canada and a discharged soldier from the war of 1812, it also states he
was a private in the Glengarry Regiment.
We know Samuel was born in
Vermont
ca 1797 so possibly he moved to Canada with his family at a young age, Samuel
married twice.
I have only tracked
down 4 children from the
first marriage
but have been given the details of 12 for the second.

Abigail SMITH. Known children are

Cornelius OSTRANDER
both died
in Iowa, 8 known children.

Daniel STALEY
9 known children.

Abram MOORE born abt
1825 marr (1) ?? (2) Sarah SUMMERS in Middlesex County. He was a mason by trade.
There was one
child by 1822 but I haven’t found him,
also there may have been more children by this marriage. First wife Abigail
SMITH died before 1836 and Samuel married second
Mariah (Maria) Jane
(surname
unknown. I desperately need to find her surname as she was my Gr.Gr. Grandmother.)
There is a Maria Moore and a Mary Jane Moore buried at Pine grove Cemetery, Reach Twp but I have no more details.
(Does anyone have details on these burials?)
They had the

Samuels 2nd wife
Maria died in 1857 and the children were scattered
to different relatives. 1861 census finds Samuel Sr & young George with Eunice
and George BOYCE. Samuel Jr is at the STALEY residence.
In 1871 Charlotte is with my Great Grandparents Drullet but disappeared after that. I couldn’t track any of them any farther.
I believe that most of them went to the US.
